Nemours Children’s Hospital, Orlando,FL 3/2011 – Present

 

Sr Network Engineer.   Providing senior level network engineering, design, and implementation support for a multi-state children’s hospital system. Past major projects at Nemours include:

 

NCH: Lead site engineer for greenfield build out of the network and Data Center infrastructure for a brand new 200 bed Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Said network includes Nexus 7018s, 5596s, and 2248s; 5508 Wireless LAN Controllers servicing both 300+ 3502i internal APs and an outdoor mesh using 1552e APs; 30+ Catalyst 4510 chassis with Sup7e's; multiple ASR 1004 routers, ASA firewalls, and 3750X stacks.

 

AIDHC Expansion:  Developed configurations for Nexus 7000 core layer as well as Catalyst 4510 series access layer for a 200 bed expansion of an existing hospital.  Developed wireless design and deployment roll-out to include AP placement and RF design.

 

Community Connect: Design and implementation of a DMVPN based WAN solution to allow for automated EMR printing at remote physician’s offices across the eastern USA.

Provide senior level network engineering and architecture support to facilitate a “fork-lift” tech refresh and complete network redesign for two international airports and one regional airport.  Duties consist of network architecture, including determining requirements and actual network design, as well as configuration builds and deployment of Cisco VSS and 3750X series hardware.

 

Sr Network Consultant (contract position Franklin University 7/10 – 9/10)

Provide senior level network consultation to facilitate datacenter migration.  Duties primarily consist of developing Cisco ASA migration plan, advising Franklin employees with regards to best practices with the Cisco ASA firewall, and Perl scripting to automate ACL review and cleanup.  Also developed Perl script to assist Franklin staff with Cisco ACE load-balancer configuration.

 

Sr Network Engineer (contract position State of Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation 8/09 - 6/10)

Provided senior level support for statewide multi-protocol wide area network.  Design, implement, and maintain complex Intrusion Detection System configurations using a variety of vendors such as Cisco, Sourcefire, and Lancope.  Participated as a team member in project to refresh mission-critical firewalls using SecureComputing/McAfee/Intel SideWinder firewalls.  Provided senior-level engineering and support for state-wide 3,000+ user wireless network.

 

Wireless Network Consultant (contract position for Cardinal Health 12/08 – 6/09)

Assisted in the deployment of Cisco 4400 series Wireless LAN Controller and 1200 series Wireless Access Points.  Also was responsible for site surveys, configuration, testing, and implementation of wireless environment in Cardinal’s Distribution Centers.  As well as creating Perl scripts for mass configuration file generation and deployment.

 

Alliance Data Systems, Columbus, OH 11/2006 – 11/2008

 

Lead Network Engineer.   Provide senior level support for world-wide PCI compliant network supporting all levels of Cisco switch, router, and firewall platforms including 6500 series switches and 5500 series ASA firewalls. 

·   Support Voice-over-IP (VoIP) in enterprise environment utilizing Cisco CallManager 5.x, VG224 Voice Gateways, and 7200VXR routers using a variety of protocols such as SCCP, MGCP, H.323, and SIP. 

·   Redesigned 500+ node server farm infrastructure to rack-switch multi-tiered distributed model.

·   Advised team of three network engineers

 

State of Ohio - Department of Health, Columbus, OH 4/2004 – 11/2006

 

Lead Network Engineer.   Provide senior level support for a fully encrypted statewide multi-protocol wide area network with 300+ remote sites.  Post requires in-depth knowledge of Cisco 7200 and 1700 series routers; 6500, 4500, 3700, 3500 and 2900 series switches; and 501, 506e, 515e, and 525 series PIX firewalls.  Position also demands a comprehensive knowledge of IP Security, routing protocols such as EIGRP, and OSPF; VLANs, HSRP, Multicast, and QoS.  Mentor and supervise 6 lower level Network Services Technicians.

 

Initially hired as Regional Support Technician for the northeast region, was promoted to Lead Network Engineer with statewide responsibilities within 10 months.  Major projects to date have included:

 

SOCC:  Engineered network design for relocating ODH datacenter to a 7,500 sq ft suite in the State of Ohio Computer Center.  Total Project Cost: $10M. 

·   Over 150 infrastructure devices directly involved in relocation and build-out.

·   Over 3,000 infrastructure devices indirectly affected by relocation.

·   Design allowed for complete remote management in the event of pandemic or bioterrorism event.

 

WIC  Migration:  Project Manager for team of six state employees and 10 contractors for a $500k project that ranged across all 88 of Ohio’s counties.  Integrated 200+ sites into the Public Health Network via Dynamic Multipoint IPSec VPNs.  Main POC for coordination between several state agencies and multiple vendors.

·   Saved WIC almost $800k per year by not using a conventional leased-line design.

 

 

Enterprise Wireless:  Designed and led the Enterprise $200k Wireless project for ODH. 

·   Rolled out secure wireless network access to ODH’s central office, four regional offices, and 123 local health departments, for a total of 1500+ users. 

·   Provided secure stand-alone wireless access for Strategic National Stockpile Initiative’s “Go-Kits,” which are used to track vaccine supplies during pandemic or bioterrorism events.
